I get the same question every time I say what my business focus is, What is a Virtual Assistant? You do what?

“A virtual assistant is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative assistance to clients remotely. “

There are various niches and sub-specialties of Virtual Assistant as well, so you have to be specific with your request for assistance to ensure you get someone who can meet your needs.

For Example, a General Administrative VA, will handle more basic office tasks, whereas a Social Media VA will be more into graphics and social media ads, and an Online Business Manager would support day to day activities for coaches, authors, etc.

Skills to Pay the Bills

Each individual brings there own joy to the party, but at a minimum each VA should have the following skills:

  • Reliability
  • Good communication skills
  • Time-management
  • Resourcefulness
  • Ability to thrive working alone (Productivity)

You may require or prefer other qualities but these should get you a decent human being to which you can mold or acclimate to your business setting.

Ready for Change

So those pain points finally convinced you its time! You are ready to hire a VA for your business.

Here are some tips to help you find a good fit. And remember, you are business partners, if you are unhappy or unsatisfied in the relationship, review your contract, exercise your options and say goodbye. Its better to end on a good note than be miserable or avoiding all Virtual Assistants in the future.

As my cousin, says “One Monkey don’t stop no show”, get back out there and find your perfect VA, you’ll be happier for it.
